They are shopping around for top 4 D-man....talking to Boston, Pittsburgh and Washington..

Peeke and Van Riemsdyk are bottom pairing RD and Karlsson is still injured for PIT so they already are down one RD. Also, WSH and BOS are playoff teams from last year and even PIT is a middle of the road team so all three of them are looking to move a top 4 RD at the start of the season is unprecedented. What specific players would be getting targeted?

Can anyone remember an NHL GM publicly stating his offer amount in the middle of a contentious negotiation with a star player? I sure can't. Seems like a pretty big story. Also seems like the sort of thing that would get Swayman and his agent to dig their heels in pretty hard.

It's a fair offer. Swayman has another strong season and he should get more though so I understand why he is holding out.

NHL? No, not off the top of my head.

I remember the Washington Nationals doing this to Harper and someone else. Soto? It was a tactic to try to gain sympathy with the fanbase to show that they were offering serious money, but the player didn’t want to take a “fair deal.” How dare these athletes turn down money that to the average fan is hardly conceivable! That was their edge.

Well, agents don’t care. That’s not their job.

They also failed to mention that a lot of it was deferred. Other teams offered up straight cash. But hey, that’s baseball.

Brad Treiliving went public with the amount he was offering Gaudreau. Then, when JG walked, Calgary obtained Huberdeau (who just happened to have the same point totals as Gaudreau that year). Huberdeau managed to get the exact offer that Tre offered to JG.

This contract is now considered the worst in the league. (frank)ing idiot.

F Swayman! turning down $64M, what a greedy guy

Guy has NEVER been a top goalie, he finished 7th in Vezina voting behind his own teammate! All he has is his stats which is helped big time by being in front of the best defensive team in the NHL (Antti Raanta won that trophy few years ago, and years before that played amazing for NYR and won a cup with Chicago, he deserve $64M too?)

Swayman's agent said that Neeley is lying about that offer. Also, Bruins refused to take him to arbitration because they didn't want to pay it. I hope he holds out until Dec. with the Bruins suffering with terrible goaltending until he returns.

goalies who hold out usually screw w their own careers in doing so. If the Bruins did indeed offer 8x8 and he did not take that is beyond bonkers for a guy that has never showed he can carry mail.

It's been widely thought that 8X8 would get this done. If this is in fact true, it's embarrassing to the organization, and both Neely and Sweeny should be fired for it.

He is only 25. So that's a bit unfair. You also have no understanding of the goalie market and what Shesterkin and Sorokin are planning to do to it.

Seravalli is reporting this morning that Boston's actual offer was 7.8 and that Swayman is asking for 8.5. I'm sure he's getting that from Swayman's agent. He also wrote that Boston was holding to 6.5 until recently.

Maybe I was a bit unfair, but c'mon man. Look at the games played with those 2 goalies over the last 3 years vs Jeremy Swayman. He should not make more than Juuse Saros (7.4M)
