Bouchard could do all that and you would still have the same commenters claiming he's not a top pairing dman.

What could the coilers offer up to make Calgary even consider that trade ??
That is a seriously bold prediction yup.

New Jersey Devils go from one of the worst teams in the league, and an under .500 team to the Stanley Cup finals lol. Here's a bold prediction, this season will be filled with unknowledgeable hockey blogs from you.

Bud you know piss all about hockey. Absolute zero clue what you watch.

Not to mention other than that guy in Canucks area - you were the only other shït sack that made a ‘joke’ at the expense of two young men who lost their lives. Apologize to your dad for becoming such a degenerate feed bag.

The Canucks will once again crush the Oilers in the regular season, and if they meet in the playoffs, if healthy, unlike last year when they almost beat them without their Vezina caliber goaltender and their leading goal scorer for game 7, they'll win in six games.

Oilers flop out of the gate, make a mid-season coaching change again. Hire another coach with an annoying voice and still manage to make the playoffs again. Seems to be the story every year 😂

Canucks regress after overachieving last season and miss the playoffs. Bold enough?

Vegas missed the playoffs in 2022. You had them winning the SC in 2023 preseason predictions right?

If it's not counter to mainstream perception, then it's not really a bold take, is it.

Bouchard is not a top pairing dman. You've got to play effectively in both ends and be responsible with the puck. This whole Bouchard over-ranking is such an insult to the real MVP on defense...who is Bouchard's partner.

he's not.

In fact, if he WERE a top pairing Dman, you could put him with Nurse to try and insulate Nurse's "moments"...but everyone knows that this it not possible (it would be Nurse covering for Bouch in this scenario actually). Bouchard pairing with Nurse would be a disaster.

So now tell me that Bouchard is a top pairing guy...let alone an MVP. My god people!!!

EDIT: you could, however, put Ekholm with either of these two giveaway machines to limit their defensive lapses. Ekholm is the MVP of our Dcorps.

While he may not be an elite or franchise D, it is really hard to say he is not a top pairing D while he plays (and excels) on the top pair. While I fully agree that Ekholm is the glue holding the D together (since the day he arrived), it is hard to dispute the fact that the two of them are indeed a top pair, and a damned good one. And at 24 (essentially 25), still room for growth too, which i think we saw a lot of as last year rolled along.

I'd still pair Bouch with Nurse to start the season, and give Emberson Ekholm, and see how that played out.

I agree with all of this. Bouchard has and still is improving a lot. It's just the "MVP" talk that gets me going. Haha
I'm also on the side that argues that the Norris should be given to the best "defenseman"...which is never Karlsson, Subban, Coffey, Leetch, etc. There should be a Dman scoring leader trophy as well as the Norris, for the best Dman.
I still think if Bouch is on the second unit and a fixture on PP1, we've got an awesome d corps. For now he's where he should be, but moving him with Nurse is crazy.
