Can you imagine where the Panthers would be if they kept Stolarz and traded Knight. Not only would it have saved on the salary cap, but a happier Panther team playing in front of a veteran goaltender. The future is now, Zito gave away a lot of first rounds so that this could be.

What about Bob?

Matt Ross writes that Panther hockey is playing with tenacity, hard checking, grind it out wearing the opposition down. But I propose this, the opposition is wearing down the Panthers. How can you forecheck someone when they're already down the ice. Other teams are a lot quicker than the Panthers and the Panthers get worn out by trying to keep up with them. It's like Wile E coyote trying to catch the roadrunner. Now I can still see it in previous games they are already down at the Panther's net surrounding the goaltenders like Indians surrounding a wagon train, playing keep away from the slow-footed Panthers. The Panthers go chasing after them getting themselves out of position. Bingo the opening is there, and the puck is in the net.

What about Bob?

You have to realize this; Bob is old and at the end of his great career. He cannot play every game and needs solid backup to help the Panthers in contention. When you play him 95% of the games he fatigues and commits errors.

He made some really big saves when the game was close through 2 periods. He was just chilling in the crease during the third while watching the Panthers pummel Carolina. He’s played well since the game in Buffalo. He needs to play more to see if he can sustain it, and also to let “old” Bob rest more often

I agree maybe he needs to start a few games in a row, so he gets in a groove.

good wins although I am remaining cautious as obviously the Canes were on their 3rd and 4th string goalies. But HOPEFULLY we are back to being decent. I will say that 2nd line is pissing me off though. Verhaeghe and Tkachuk are lagging big time and both have mega bucks for many years. Verhaeghe on the 2nd canes game lost me money and his was the "sure thing". All he had to do was get 2+ shot on goal... he gets 1?!?!?!?!?!? head out of ass Carter!

Looks like he might get the next two on the road in Pennsylvania. Bob’s pregnant wife is close to her due date, and Bob is not on the trip to Pittsburgh, Driedger called up.

Sucks that they have to send Samoskevich down to make room
