Last night was what I call a good loss. Got the moral victory of fighting back from a 3-0 deficit. Got the refs to blame. A couple of favorite scapegoat players get to be called out. Best of all the loss, helps get a better draft pick potentially. All good. Checks the boxes. - MJL
kind of loss that can send a team on a tailspin.
not these flyers however as they are a resilient bunch. expecting a huge win next game. |

Farabee had a strong game tonight. - MJL
Yes, he looked particularly strong while taking that cross checking penalty that cost the Flyers the game. But hey, he got an assist and a few shots on goal so I guess that constitutes a good game.
Meanwhile, as I told you would happen, Tippet scores two goals and Michkov has 3 assists. Now that is my standard for a "good" game. |

Just because a couple of pundits think it’s a “fantasy” team doesn’t make the overwhelmingly sentiment that both TK and Sanheim don’t belong a real thing. Leafs fans are pissed because Taveras and O’reilly didn’t make it….most of these guys have not even watched the Flyers play this year. I have and I actually don’t even think Sanheim should be considered the 7th man on D….he should easily be in the top 6 on his over all play up till now…he’s been that good. TK is playing as well or better than most of that forward group….that’s saying a lot when you consider who’s on it.
I will go one further….considering where the Flyers are and their lack of relevancy both TK and Sanheim had to be even better to be considered. That’s how well these two have played. Good on the organizational group in Canada for getting this right, - landros 2
No real Leafs fan is pissed about JT and Rielly not making the team (please dont go off of twatter....its a cesspool of idiots owned by moronic russian puppet.)
JT is having a great year, but its no "snub" to not have included him on the team. The tournament means nothing, team canada should have had more younger players on the team (bedard etc).
The US team looks great though.
And Michkov is looking like the real deal. |

No one is jealous.....at all.
I keep forgetting the flyers exist.
But seriously, Konecny is a good player but simply not in the realm of the other team canada members. Why the hell is hagel in the team? No clue. Blame Jon cooper for that...same with Cirelli.
However, this isnt an Olympic style format, its pretty much one and done on NHL ice, so I guess they are trying to build a more NHL style team. Personally I would have liked to have seen Bedard in over all three of the above, as its a nothing tournament, it would have been nice to see Bedard play with actual talent. - Fakepartofme \
Stahp..
Konecny is going to be this team's #1 PK option. These aren't all star teams where every player is a first line option (nor is Bedard even if he were on this team)
Considering the roles certain players are expected to fill, who should Bedard replace? Will he be the #1 PK option in place of Konecny? Puhleeehz.

You can do that but it is not logical. Would sacrifice an extra forward or Dman

You can do that but it is not logical. Would sacrifice an extra forward or Dman - WhiskeyMan It's not logical at all to keep 3. Waive Fedotov to send him down. I doubt anyone takes him off waivers and if someone does I don't care anyway. In fact, I'd probably prefer it. Glad he's only signed for one more year after this year. Two more very promising young goalies in the pipeline. This guy is 28 and not part of the future.

not ideal at all. IMO they do not want to send kolosov down as he may bolt. Would be a bad move on his part.
They need to obviously talk to him and ivan. Then come up with a plan. Easy route is keep all 3. |

It's not an all star game. You need to ice a team with players that can take on roles. It makes zero sense to add Bedard to a lower line. Brandon Hagel is an elite even strength point producer in this league. He can produce points without needing PP time. Cirelli is an elite defender who can also score at a high level plus they play together. There isn't going to be any practice. Instant chemistry can be important.
Konecny can put up points on his own and can play the PK. You're going to need players to take on roles.

Coming from the guy who is always posting that a team can't be soft, have to build culture and stand up for teammates. It was bad officiating. Reinhart should've been penalize also. A player doesn't have to put up high point totals to have a strong game. Farabee was up on his skates "checking forward", one of your new favorite cliches all game and was one of the best Flyers forwards on the ice in the game. Of course that play cost them the game. None of the other goals given up or multitiude of mistakes made had anything to do with it.
Congratulations, you're a regular nostradamus predicting that Tippett would eventually score some goals. Nobody else figured that out |

Maybe you could have included bedard but he’s having a terrible year so far on a terrible team. Tk and sanheim were included not just because they are both having good years. You can just have 12 offensive minded forwards and 6 offensive minded d like an all
Star game. You need versatility. Sanheim plays a lot in a lot of situations, can play either left or right d and can handle the ice time if there’s an injury and he has to move up. Tk can move up and down, plays the pp and also the pk where he’s become adept at scoring sh. When one of the other teams decides to put 5 offensive forwards on the ice for their pp, tk may be able to take advantage of that. I think this is what the mindset is |

I'm going to go more realistic and blame the numerous defensive breakdowns. By Poehling, Seeler, a couple by Sanheim. I'll also blame the coaching. This coach continues to elevate the ice time of players like Poehling and Laughton, neither of whom are particularly good defensively. Rather if he wants to go into shut down mode not playing a player like Cates, who is infinitely better defensively more. This is something that Tortorella has done his entire coaching career. Put a level of trust in players that haven't earned it. - MJL
I didn't understand why York and Sanheim were paired on the PK, they were getting bullied out there by the Panthers. Would have liked to see Risto and Sanheim out there on the PK more often. |

The Flyers as a team played a bad 3rd period IMO. After the Hathaway goal putting the Flyers up 5-4, Florida took over the game. The Flyers looked disjointed throughout the 3rd period. Florida's tying goal was a bad goal against by Kolosov, there is no way a professional goalie cannot pick up that puck. Farabee was up on his skates and checking forward, but once again his lack of skill stopped him from actually finishing a play. Witht that said, there is NO way a veteran like Farabee can take that penalty at that stage in the game. It was stupid. Did it cost the Flyers the game? Probably not. But given how well Florida's PP was converting, you had to know the game was over. |
