I’m hoping he finds a bit more of his game out from under the cloud that was NY the last few months -

I don’t care that we gave up nothing to get him… and the money is meaningless to us.

If he helps and protects the kids cool if we can flip him for a better pick at the deadline, cool…

He’s a big hitter who doesn’t mind dropping the gloves and we need that for protection…. so fine…

Big Boss Ross / JT / Gudas …. No one‘s gonna be pushing the kids around…

I actually think he’ll be OK paired with Zellweger …

I think Trouba's leadership on and off the ice is EXACTLY what Zellweger,
Mintyukov, LaCombe, Luneau, McTavish, Carlsson and Gauthier need to experience on a nightly basis. He will provide so much to, especially on what it takes to be a Professional, 24/7.

This generation of Ducks knows of Ryan Getzlaf, but never witnessed his leadership in the locker room in between periods. But they will now, because that's what Jacob Trouba will bring every game.

What a tremendous example for all those very talented, young Ducks. Should this core stay together, Trouba's impact could last for years.

My only concern is who loses playing time. Unless Fowler is on the way out, it will be one of the kids.

If he is as much of a mentor in the locker room here as he reportedly was in NY, then could be a good addition.

Well. I doesn't really matter. The Ducks were so close to the cap floor that they couldn't trade players without taking back a contract or eating money. The fact that Trouba chose to be here is kind of the most surprising thing. Gonna be interesting to watch what Cronin does with him. This Ducks team is getting bigger and slower each year and all Cronin wants to do is play fast and shoot alot. Me thinks some hi-jinks might be coming around in Ducksland. I mean something gotta break eventually.

Insane the Ducks just gifted the Rangers all that cap space. Ducks could of spent that Cap better.

The Ducks wanted his entire cap hit to stay above the cap floor when they deal Vatrano, Fowler, Zegras and whomever else. So it looks as though Trouba stays there because other Ducks will bring back a much larger return!
Trouba has been reduced to just being ballast!

Continuing to suck and bringing in a similar sized contract from a contending team but also getting a first? This glowing stuff about leadership ignores Trouba's play and the Ducks' situation. They are hunting again for a top 5 spot. Why not solidify that and get another late round 1st? I don't get the Ducks' thinking at all.

From a Rangers fan...you got a good guy, class act, hard hitting player who will be a great mentor to your young players if you dont trade him at deadline. His skills have diminished and on the Rangers he was an 8M 3rd pair dman. Not his fault he was overpaid. Ducks did Rangers a major favor by taking on his full salary . Wish him luck

Money is meaningful. Cap space is a weapon and Ducks let New York off scott free. They dumped a contract on ANH and gave up nothing to do so. ANH should have gotten a sweetner to take the full contract. That trade was pure incompetence.

I'm no fan of Verbeek since the horrid Killorn contract...

But's it's done and nothing we can do about it now... yeah he should have gotten Drury to either keep money or throw a pick in there... but whatever...

If we can wring a pick at the deadline and wring some decent play from him so be it.

Well that was a very promising start for JT... Now bench Cam and play Minty with him....

Good crisp, accurate - 1st passes out of the zone, Which Gudas cannot do to save his life.... Excellent decisions on where and when to pinch and calm demeanor out there.

Golf day! The boys were out at the course this morning and I had the privilege of escorting them around, here's what they told me about the Trouba deal. They don't mind talking to me about after the fact deals, just no more rumors. Anyway, it came down to Anaheim and Detroit with Trouba preferring Detroit because it was closer to NY and his wife could stay at the hospital where she's working. Problem was Yzerman wouldn't take on the full cap hit and didn't want the player Drury wanted in the trade to leave Detroit. They circled back to Anaheim and GMPV said he'd take the full cap hit but NY would have to take Vakaanainen instead of a current young Ducks blue liner, (They wouldn't say who but I'm guessing either LaCombe or Helleson). Trouba's wife researched UCI Medical center and found out they have a state of the art brain trauma center and Strome and especially Vatrano greased the wheels with Jacob and he agreed to the deal. GMPV really wanted Trouba, too, so the cap hit didn't matter that much to him as long as none of the young D-men were involved.

I would have lost my mind with either LaCombe or Helly going...

What is the story on Cam... when can we jettison him and where...

And enough with sitting Minty for Cam that is total BS.

I didn't pry too much because I've gotten them into trouble before. but I got the feeling GMPV vetoed the Trouba deal initially because Drury wanted one of the D kids. I assume that's what they meant by "circling back".
I agree 1000% regarding Cam, and I think Detroit is seriously considering him now. It will probably be something similar to the Trouba trade but with GMPV taking back half of Cam's cap hit. I'm praying Fowler starts doing something to generate interest, but it doesn't help that Trouba was the Ducks second best defenseman against Montreal and it was his first game!

Its the Day after the Ducks beat Utah
Well. They traded chances with Utah and got lucky at the end. Utah pretty much shot themselves in the foot with all the penalties they took. I mean Utah was faster. And giving them that much open ice was just inviting Utah to score. But it was still a win. But Vegas won't be as sloppy like Utah.

Well at least we had a chance - Vegas is just at this point so much deeper... and missing Z is a giant liability... and I think we are seeing the limits of Leo...Nice player but no game changer... and Mason for all this mini hot streak is a 3rd line C at best.
