Scratching zib for a game should happen
- nyrangers2

they'd scratch Mika, and out of sheer desperation Trocheck would play 30 minutes that game

I remember when Fox was a difference maker out there. And this isn’t because of Lindgren, I don’t buy it. I’d scratch him, Kreider and zib and see what the team does after that

They need drastic measures

Keenan wouldn't scratch these guys, but what he'd do is pin Mika's ass to the bench for a whole period after a ridiculous error like that last night

Honestly, how do you go from this to sucking so bad? I mean, even historically bad teams like the Canucks haven't done this when they won the coveted President's Trophy.

That’s what I was saying by can’t get out of his own head. One solution would be a reel of all positive plays. Have him watch it over and over to plant that thought in his head. It’s like a batter watching productive swings before going to the plate

There has been a lot of great points made by Jan and the rest of the fans in this blog that are on point. How does a team that had the best record in the league last year, that went to the Eastern Conference Finals, and pretty much has the same coaches and players from last season, perform as bad as they are?

Is it the coach(es)? Is it the players? I say it is both for sure. As a coach, to allow this really poor unacceptable play this long after all of your messages, falls on your staff. Why are they so bad defensively as a team? Why has the offense dropped off? This didn't happen last season. At some point, you need to sit players, no matter their tenure, to send a message. If you can sit Reilly and Vesey, you can sit Zib, Kreider, Miller or anyone else. Otherwise, why should the players change? As a player, it is your responsibility to do your job better. I get scoring goals may not be a flick of a switch, but lack of defense, causing turnovers. making blind or bad passes, puck watching, not being physical (with an impact).....these are all thing players can change on their own and are accountable for. Drury can't trade everyone, but he will need to do more than just move Trouba. It's up to Drury to find out why the atmosphere is what it is, and then decide if moving players or replacing the coach is a solution. I agree, you can't ruffle too many feathers at once, but maybe someone else needs to throw their helmet across the ice to send a message like Trouba did to ignite the team. Oh yeah, that too was against Chicago.

“Everyone wants to be held accountable, but they don’t like it when they’re held accountable. That’s where it gets tricky.”

Huh? I think them not liking it is the point, no? The NHL has always been different to me. Players typically aren’t prima donnas and the team is usually prioritized. Hope that’s not slowly changing.

I say they all take their diapers off and play competitive hockey. It’s ridiculous this team is upset by a couple of moves that the team needed to make. It’s absurd that some these guys have had 3 coaches, 2 different front offices and are now belly aching because people want more from them. This after 3 straight disappointing seasons. And this is coming from a guy who defending all of them with vigor against anyone who bad mouthed them. I look like an idiot now lol so (frank) them and their wussy like attitudes, all of them

Keep the faith! Edmonton was a terrible team… then they changed coaches and went all the way to the finals. I remember Pittsburg was in the same boat years ago before getting Sullivan and then won the cup that year. All it takes is a tweak.

Losing me is very hard to do. I can’t believe what I’m watching this year

I think Lavy is the one who will pay the price and it’s down right criminal. Not that he’s been great or anything, it just isn’t fair to do this another human being associated with the players on this team. Because chances are the next coach will be fired again in the same amount of times. It ain’t right man

I agree about Lavy... I don't think this is on him. I actually really think the players are digging in their heals and are pissed. Drury will get fired, and the team will soar... They are trying to make a point. (Right or wrong is always up for debate). I think it's their way of saying, we don't like what he's doing. Either change him, or ship us out. I actually don't think they care if they get traded or not at this point... if they get traded, great... new management that actually cares (in their eyes) if Drury gets fired, great... finally someone who comes in who will make better decisions that we believe in (in their eyes).

Not saying it's right, but I think that's what is happening.

Players are out of control. They want 7 year deals and NMC or NTC clauses and they cannot be criticized. You are not football.baseball. basketball. You are the 4th sport.

Judging by how Drury pretty much ran Trouba out of NY, it turns out that the Rangers troubles weren't Trouba's fault after all.

Disappointing season's low alone trailing 2-1 after two at home, & needing until 5:28 left to register their 4th SOG of the 3rd against heading in, both the NHL's lowest ranked 18 PTS., & average 0.33PTS/GM% Hawks team; in aiding them to surpass lowest ranked now #32 Nashville (per tiebreaker 1).

They again lacked confidence & playing intensity in failing to play their game of utilizing speed & skill, (if still possible anymore); by playing timid in being afraid mentally to making defensive mistakes. That allowed Chicago the freedom of having time & space predominantly up the middle to obtain the higher quality & quantity of scoring chances in the slot and inner slot areas. The same two in Zib & Miller were directly of key responsible for one goal each via turnovers. The 1st via a Zib fanned-on pass from behind the Rangers net that went directly to Taylor Hall setting up Bertuzzi; & the 2nd via Miller losing the puck & caught up ice behind the play in Chicago's zone.

During this 10 games (2-8-0) downfall stretch in having a Goal Diff. of (-15) with 25-GF & 40-GA for a 2.50-GFA & 4.00-GAA, they have been outscored overall 35-17 in the 8 losses. The 10 games combined stats below for the above mentioned Miller & Zibanejad depict in part, reason for their downfall.

Miller: G-1; A-2; (-3 +/- Rating); SOG-14; Shifts-241; Hits-22; Blk Sh-12
Zib: G-1 (PP); A-5 (2-PP); (-10 +/-); SOG-24; Shifts-232; Hits-3, Blk Sh-7

Zib's disappointing combined 10 games stretch numbers stick out most of all Rangers per his average 23 Shifts/Game; in having ZERO Even Strength Goals & just 3-Even Strength Assists along with a (-10) +/- Rating. Those while also recording only 24 SOG, 3 Hits, & 7 Blocked Shots in total for the 10 games.
