If I recall correctly, dating back to his junior days, he is notorious for taking bad penalties

It’s not a proposal. Apparently was offered by NYR months ago and rejected by Van.

How does RT shoulder the blame or is partly responsible for Nils play on the ice?

Last night is a prime example, Nils loses his stick and then proceeds to knock down an opposing player without the puck, that is text book interference. If he can eliminate the stupid mental mistakes, and play like he has shown in the past, RT will reward him with more ice time and better players to play with. But he needs to do that consistently, and so far he hasn't so stop blaming the coaching staff for not gifting him opportunities he doesn't deserve.
