I really thought we were getting Bouchard there!! I remember screaming "WHO THE (frank) IS KRAVTSOV?!?!?!?" the second they made the call. Then I got real excited!! Then I got real disappointed. Then I got real angry. - Tonybere
This is how I felt when we drafted Dylan McIlrath instead of Tarasenko.

Dobson was who I wanted in the Kravtsov draft. I think Kravtsov still could’ve been a good player, but like a lot of other high draft picks this organization has had, they butchered him. |

It was a hot take, but in the 2019 and 2020 draft I thought the Rangers would have been better off trading their picks and moving down in the draft. I thought at the time a volume of 1st rounders would have been better off for us as we had quite a few holes to fill and it would have set us up better for the future. |

Lias Kravtsov Kakko and Laf (to an extent), it’s not the players, it’s the organization. |

I agree it's the organization, but not in the same way. With Lias and Kravtsov I blame scouting. One was a petulant child that wasn't ready to be a pro and the other a primadonna that couldn't accept that he had to put in work. |

This is as much about developing Berard as it is about playing the best players to me and I think Berard and the team both benefit the most from him in the big leagues. I don't know if I'd say I'm hung up on it, like it's not the end of the world. But I definitely don't have as much faith in the org to do the best thing for our young players as i once did. - picklerick
Berard may be a better player than Rempe, BUT he may not be the right player right now. This has very little to do with each players' skill, but for whatever reason the team is 18-4-2 with Rempe in the lineup and 6-12-1 with Berard. |

Confidence. Everyone plays with it when they know they have a 6’9 255 lbs guy that has their back. He should get a little better at getting beat up though, doesn’t use his reach/size to his advantage. |

With the amount of 1st round picks we had between 2017-2020, this team should have been rebuilt and an absolute piss rocket by 2025... but here we are. - aecliptic
See Ottawa, Buffalo, Sharks and Ducks who had downturn at same time. They aint pissing rockets.

This is more about finding out what they actually have in Kaliyev than in punishing Berard! You're getting WAAAY too hung up over a guy that plays just over 11 mins a game and is a -9. - TommyGTrain
Well to be fair Kaliyev was playing almost 12 minutes a game and is a -12 for his career.
So we sent down our own guy who bring energy for an unknown cast off.
Yep sounds like the Rangers. |

I think it’s matter of ok we realize Berard can hang in the NHL and this will maybe make him hungrier to get back, and in the meantime try and develop someone else because imo they want more youth entering the lineup next season. Kaliyev may be a diamond in the rough but how will they know if they don’t play him? LA didn’t play him nearly enough people have said
As far as Rempe over him…They need Rempe. They need him to play clean. They need him because what are we? soft and unintimidating to play against. For some reason the fans have turned on him which is weird. I get it he’s had some dirty moments, but he does bring something we haven’t ever had imo. That’s why he gets chances every so often. His line got the GW in Vegas so he already made a difference - Slimtj100
So we know Berard can play in the NHL so we send him down??? Makes no sense. The Ranger way. |

You’re impossible to reason with so I’m not bothering
Berard is/was a -9 since you’re bringing +/- to the table |

Reason with?? Your first sentence makes no sense. He can play in the NHL so we send him down.
How can you reason with that contradiction???
I mean Mika is at a -21, yet has played or I should say dressed for every game. |

Listen I didn’t bring up +/-, you did
You’re looking for a fight and I ain’t going there
The rangers picked up a “castoff” and they’re giving him a shot. They can send down a guy who is waiver exempt, and are playing someone who isn’t. Said player has tools in his tool basket and the rangers are seeing if it develops here unlike it did in LA
Reasoned with
But carry on kicking a screaming like you usually do |

No Tommy brought up +/-, you just stuck your nose into it.
So now we develop players here on the main club not in the minors. Got it.
We definitely need Rempe over Berard for the Avs game.
Your "thinking" is the reason why we are Cupless for 30 years.

You say that like we haven't had a lick of success. It's not like we are the only team that has been gearing up for a run at the Cup. We may not have reached the ultimate goal, but a Pres. Trophy and 2 semi-final appearances in 3 years is not exactly being a bottom feeder.
I was intrigued by your comment about 1st round picks. Florida won last year without amassing a big stockpile of picks, in fact traded away multiple 1st's. But, I didn't see a drafted name I recognized on their roster since Anton Lundell in 2020 and not really any much before that, either.
I'm not trying to offer excuses, or say we achieved enough. Just saying that there are many different paths to winning and just because the front office doesn't follow the blueprint you (or others) want, doesn't mean they are trying.
Obviously, we have issues with drafting and development. But, changes have been made in terms of personnel. Hopefully, in philosophy as well.
I've seen a change in the players attitude and approach of late. Will management follow suit????? |
