Is today the last day Rangers are .500 or worse?
20 games until the deadline, figure they need to win 14 at a minimum to be in the mix. |

No, I’m just putting 2 and 2 together.
It’s a valid reason |

and both Berard and Mancini were 5th rd selections and Edstrome and Rempe 6th but those nener work out so chuck them now - Greschnergy#4
I think the evidence fairly clearly shows a lack of development from top picks (1st - 2nd rounds). Later rounds have been much kinder to us |

You say that like we haven't had a lick of success. It's not like we are the only team that has been gearing up for a run at the Cup. We may not have reached the ultimate goal, but a Pres. Trophy and 2 semi-final appearances in 3 years is not exactly being a bottom feeder.
I was intrigued by your comment about 1st round picks. Florida won last year without amassing a big stockpile of picks, in fact traded away multiple 1st's. But, I didn't see a drafted name I recognized on their roster since Anton Lundell in 2020 and not really any much before that, either.
I'm not trying to offer excuses, or say we achieved enough. Just saying that there are many different paths to winning and just because the front office doesn't follow the blueprint you (or others) want, doesn't mean they are trying.
Obviously, we have issues with drafting and development. But, changes have been made in terms of personnel. Hopefully, in philosophy as well.
I've seen a change in the players attitude and approach of late. Will management follow suit????? - Tonybere
Lets face facts here Tony, everyone has a different POV, some of us see this organization as one who has fired a good GM with whom they grew impatient with and dumped him for Drury, 4 coaches in 7 years. Failed first round picks, players who turtle when the pressure is on and now a team a few months from being the best team in the league to out of the playoffs as of now.
Do you really think this team can win a playoff round let alone a Cup? I think the team who finished the season had a better chance than this version. |

Fully agree but only 17% of 3rd rd picks make it to the NHL- we are doing something right - |

A lot of that is on management. Imagine trading an overpaid Huberdeau to get Matt Tkachuk. Brilliant move that turned the course of the team around. This would be the equivalent of us trading Panarin, a 1st and a prospect for Brady Tkachuk. Imagine trading for Sam Reinhart who Buffalo was done with and turning him into one of the most prolific goal scorers in the league. Go get Paul Maurice, who I think everyone loves for his interviews. They had an idea and direction, put a team together and kept it together. We had Vatrano, Copp, Goodrow… these are heart/core type guys you go through the mud with. |

Ive been saying it since the Callahan days, we should always trade our firsts and only draft in the 3rd round. |

Great point ED but as usual you are only half right. Yes you need to hit on later round selections for your third and forth liners but you HAVE to hit on your first and second round picks lines for your top 2 lines. |

I’m all alone on the island, but I trust Drurys direction right now. You can see the forest through the trees if you can just let go of a couple trades he’s made.
Which people can’t do lol

The issue is the top tier talent is lacking. We've found role players in later rounds, but no stars. |

Rangers seem to have a development problem and a scouting issue.
Not good when Ortmeyer and Glass running that dev dept. Scouting in the past loved Euro east west players and now the current regime likes slow big players
None drafted any high IQ elite good skating centers.

If they win tonight, will anyone believe theyve turned the corner? That would be 3 in a row vs true cup contenders. Thats gotta mean something doesn’t it? |
