It just seems to me like the team does not play well in front of Husso. If players have confidence in their goalie, they'll play a little looser and take more chances. If they don't have confidence, they play tighter and get off their game. I just can't think of a single reason why they keep going back to him. He has not been an NHL caliber goalie for the past two seasons.
Having said that, Holl and Chariot played horrific last night. If they were on the bench, Detroit wins that game. I just naturally pay more attention to the little details of the game, probably from years of coaching, and I can't tell you the number of times both of them made a perfect tape-to-tape pass either on a break-out, or in the O-Zone. The only problem is those perfect tape-to-tape passes were to SJS players. Those are the types of passes you expect in youth hockey, but not at the pro level. It's like riding a bike and focusing exclusively on a tree, then wondering why you crashed into it. It appeared like they were looking directly at the SJS players and made beauty passes right to them. It's frustrating to watch.
Oh yeah, one more observation. On two of SJS goals, four Detroit players were on the puck against a single SJS player, leaving the other forwards wide open. That's just laziness.

First, I agree on the goalie issue. For whatever reason, the team doesn’t respond the same with him in net. The only reason I can think of is the upcoming schedule. Lyon isn’t quite ready and the coach may have wanted to rest Talbot. Their next 7 games are every other day (4 on the road, 3 at home) then a 2 day break before Edmonton. That seems pretty massive. San Jose was energized and ready. Whether it was the goalie or not Detroit looked off. They’d have a strong couple shifts but not cash in then back to the mess. The next 2 weeks is going to be a test on the group for sure
