Of all the reclamation projects Dubas brought in, it appears Tomasino has a future. |

I do like Tomasino… although it did work out, would rather see him with Sid instead of Beau |

I would like to see Hayes on the 2nd line. He and Malkin play similar styles, Malkin no speed demon so it’s not like Hayes will have to keep up. Hayes, Beau, Glass, Lizotte have all been pretty decent additions, unfortunately all have to share ice time with DOC who (frank)ing sucks at hockey. |

Glass has been a nice addition to the extent his cap hit is small, for one year and we got a couple decent picks to take him.
Beau and Lizotte have been good values.
Hayes... he is a very overpaid 4th liner. He is ok, I don't hate him but I would also like to see him on the 2nd line in hopes we can convince someone to trade for him. |

He’s clearly the guy with the best offensive skillset after Bunting on the depth chart. He actually slows the game down in the O zone when he has the puck. Seeing as how DOC gets repeated chances in the top six it’s infuriating. |

That week of the site being down pretty much killed this place. Hopefully picks up closer to the deadline. |

It's true! This plus we have a bunch of later West coast games. |

It's a shame Tomasino and Beau aren't more committed to being complete players. There's a spot next to Malkin and Bunting begging for them. But that would leave nobody who back checked consistently on that line and they aren't strong enough offensively to justify that.
But that's why we keep seeing guys like Glass and DOC there. And that's the main difference between guys like Tomasino and Beau and guys like Zucker. |

Kept me away for a while. Not that I posted all that often. Still, there are a lot of insights here that I like to keep up with. Right or wrong.
I did take the Pens tonight. Why? I don't know.

It's actually DOC's fault.

Sounds like a coaching issue to me. |

That is my knock on Tomasino. I wish he played a little defense. Hopefully he can develop a bit. |

Hayes should get a chance there. That lines supposed to produce. Hayes gives them the best shot at that. |

Speaking of development... it was interesting reading an interview Zadorov gave on his time with Vancouver. He played some of his best hockey there and credited a lot of it to Gonchar working with him on some specific things. Not sure why we ever let him go. Would be great to have him working with Pickering now and Bruinke next season and if we keep sucking so badly maybe even Shaffer in the not too distant future... |

Recent insider discussions with us being linked to Buffalo (just from a recent discussion with some friends who have ties to the organization) our scouts and Dubas are in agreement that they want to try and being Zach Benson from Buffalo as their main target from Buffalo. We also asked about prices on Tuch, Quinn, Cozens, and even Power (which I assume is normal when having discussions between teams).
My friend believes they may do a 3 team deal with Pettersson with one team sending us prospects and picks and us sending the picks potentially with us sending additional picks/prospects to Buffalo with Zach Benson coming back (not set in stone just the ideal situation).
They feel like a Benson and McGroarty line would provide us with 2 great wingers for years to come.
Also discussions have us fighting over Glass vs Hayes for the 3rd line center spot. Some believe Hayes is moveable with Glass going into that spot, others believe Sullivan wants Hayes the veteran to be there and not to be shopped.

Thanks for sharing all that. Interestingly saw the Pens linked to the Sabers elsewhere, but for what I'd call lesser targets than Benson. Ideally though I'd love to find a way to get a center with top six upside or a puck moving defenseman.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sully preferred Hayes. Seems like he's loved in the locker room as finally a guy who can keep everyone loose. And he's been playing well since coming back in and getting a shot at 3C. Glass hasn't done much in his elevated role. |
