Briere on whether Ristolainen could be a tough decision come the trade deadline: "I don't know yet. There's teams that have called to inquire. But Risto's been so good too for us. And he's not a rental. For us, there's no rush to trade him."

"I mean, we get excited about trading him & thinking about the kind of return we can get. But I'm not shopping him. I'm not trying to get rid of him. He's been a big asset for us, & it would be a big hole if we ever have to lose him. So I really don't know where it's going.
As for the Risto stuff…. This is Danny’s way of doing things. He wants people to call him and talk to him. He wants other GM’s on the phone so he can talk about other things…So he will leave it out there that everyone’s available.
As for who the flyers are going to pursue at the deadline. It’s gonna take a couple more weeks to figure that out because they’re right in that bubble spot. I don’t expect them to take any rentals on.

The key phrase is “he’s not a rental”. Flyers don’t have any noteworthy rentals. How many times does it need to be said, the deadline is for expiring deals. Maybe an odd deal goes through every now and then for a player with term. Flyers are flush with 2025 picks and have no rentals. Plus they are likely to still be in the playoff mix. It’ll be a deathly quiet deadline

Briere had a press conference today, stated his approach to this deadline will be the same as last deadline, if something makes sense for the future then they will consider it, but they are not going to give any players away just to make a deal. Really spoke highly of Risto and Laughton when asked about them, which to me was a message to the rest of the GMs, if you want them it will cost you. Briere confirmed he has had calls on Risto, but said Risto is healthy, playing the best hockey of his career and loves playing for Torts, so Briere is not shopping him. I always remember however, don't listen to what a GM says, see what they do.

Of course because Briere knows what I have known for a while, Risto is the Flyers best and most reliable defenseman!

danny is a putz. not much confidence in him at all.
will anyone be shocked that when risto and Laughton are eligible for an ext, they get said ext.
lol in bold. or it means like he said he has no desire to trade them.
Well, first off, John Tortorella is the modern day equivalent of Flyers 2nd coach Vic Stasiuk. Old, out of touch, and badly needs replacing. Oh, and Bobby Clarke likes both of them.
Ersson = Tommy Soderstrom, both had some talent, both couldn’t stay healthy
Sanheim = Jimmy Watson, good at most things, great at nothing and under appreciated.
Seeler = Frank Bathe, generic 3rd pairing nobody who coaches love
Konecny = Mark Recchi, highly skilled but abrasive and annoying to play against
Poehling = Tom Gorence, skates well, tries hard, no hands
Frost = Orest Kindrachuk, good player, but nothing special
Hathaway = Bob Kelly, high motor 4th line poop stirrer

Well done. Except for Frost/Kindrachuk. Don’t really see that one.

Thats not at all what Danny is saying. He is saying he wont move Risto just to get rid of him. He's not just speaking to fans at these conferences but other GMs as well. Briere wants the best return possible, he is not going to let GMs think he is desperate to move guys. He is stating that Risto is not a rental so they do not have to take whatever the best offer is on the table. They can wait until they get the offer they want. Briere can still turn around and just take the best deal available but he doesnt want the other GMs to think he will do that so they up their offers.

Maybe the Flyers should invest in a phone system where you can make calls out.
