Nice. We chose the Canada v Finland game because it's 1pm on Presidents Day and my kids are off school, so I won't be keeping the younger one up late and then having to deal with the consequences of that the next day.

So Pettersson gor 6 years at 5.5M per from the Canucks. Very reasonable price and shows how easy it would have been to negotiate.

Should the Pens have just done that? Depends on if they were serious about competing soon. Don't think they are so good return.

I don’t really love the Canucks due to lack of true firepower up front but they’re reasonably young. They’ll make the playoffs and if you squint you can maybe see a contender window. That aught to sound pretty good for Pettersen who’s been on some pretty old, bad teams going all the way back to his Duck days. Dude’s never been out of the first round of the playoffs. Unsure we could have pulled off that deal for him.

Lol. I told the Canucks fan asking when we traded him that he was probably good for $5.5-5.75M. I feel a little better about myself today.

Plenty of reports he wanted to stay. And with the cap increasing he might have done better but signed quickly with Vancouver without even seeing where else he could go. I think a deal could have been made.

But, I'm happy with the return. No issues that they did this. They chose a direction with Guentzel and doesn't make sense to change course now.

Was this blog a big jinx with Sid not at practice yesterday and being further evaluated?

I like the return we received for Petts but I would have also liked to have kept him for the contract the Nucks gave him. So, whatever, overall haha

Agreed. Once they traded Jake, the course was set, and the return for MP is good.

Also, happy for MP that he got that contract.

The pens aren't planning on competing next year for sure. I think in 26/27 they'll try to be one of those plucky, young, upstart kind of teams that makes a little noise with Sid's leadership. Need a couple of the kids to develop. I'm hoping they go big on Rantanen.

Petts was a good player, but mostly a supporting player. I'm sure it's a pipe dream, but I'd rather pay big for one of these elite players that wants to go to FA.

Or is this a case of the classic Penguins Injury Method...
Player gets hurt in game.
Player leaves game.
Player returns to play later in game.
We learn later in week player is out "week to week" with Upper/Lower Body Injury.......

Lets hope injury doesnt repeat itself with 87
