Yes, I found that part particularly silly. It was still just a 4-team round-robin. Congrats to Canada and it was good hockey, but honestly let's just get back to the season and the TDL. Come tomorrow, no one's going to still be living in the memory of this game.

I'll be the first to admit that medals and a trophy is a bit over the top but it's not uncommon - it happens at the World Juniors too.

I did not see the Canadian players treating it like a Stanley Cup. McDavid barely lifted the trophy, nobody kissed it, and they all took small skates with it.

Perhaps the American players should have chilled out with their trash talking and media B.S. until they could have backed it up with a tournament win.

Regardless of who won, this tourny was fun to watch. The atmosphere and excitement of any NHL caliber USA vs Canada hockey game is hard to beat. I don’t think there are 2 teams that are as equal as these two. This could have gone either way.
I am trying to envision the 2 going head to head, best players available, no injuries, no illness, nothing holding them back, everyone in top shape playing the game as they do today…I don’t think my heart could take it.
