So Binnington is apparently available. What do you guys think, should the Oilers go after him?

I think this would be a decent risk, he's a gamer and rises to the occasion.

It boils down to whether MNGT has faith that Skinner can win the 'big game'.

Binnington has shown he can show up in big games.

A tough call.

I think this is hilarious. He’s been bad for a few seasons. He got named to team Canada and everyone was shocked. Each game he gave up stinkers and people called for Hill to get in. Then in the final he lets in a stinker, but then makes a few big saves in OT. Now everyone seems to think he’s a big time goalie again???

He’s no better than Skinner. And apparently is a big douche.

He's not great, saaaaay 8 out of 10, but Skinner is 7 out of 10 and does not show up for big games. I'd much rather have an elite goalie but we don't have the assets to get that deal done.

When Askarov was shining in NSH I think Saros could've been pried away from them, but now maybe not as easy.

Skinner and Bouchard to NSH for Saros + was a deal to be made for example. That is simply an example. Another one might be to go after Shesterkin when things weren't rosie over there. Could we have gotten Shesterkin, Kreider, Lafreniere, Fox or Trouba or something? Panarin?...for (get ready) Draisaitl? probably something could've been done there too.

Hesitation is a killer. The Oilers have put all of their money in 2horses and this game is won with an elite core of 5or6 and a strong goalie, surrounded by 12or13 really good character players who assume different roles. The Oilers are so far from that structure and I don't think many fans see just how many holes there are.

Yeah, I don't see him as a significant upgrade, and is signed for one more season than Skinner and at 6 mil instead of 2.6 mil. We are already paying Campbell for the next 4 years, why add a ton more cap for more meh tending. If you can't get a real upgrade in net, don't halfass it. Grab a proper defensive D-man to reduce the chances and roll with Skinner.

I didn't realize Binnington got paid that much more than Skinner, therefore I'm out.

That's what the team looks for in management, so why not in players, as well.

wont be Spencer Knight unless Chicago decides to trade him once again for some reason

but maybe try that, going after a young goalie stuck behind a vet somewhere?
