You need to have an honest conversation about your disgusting GM, who was complicit in the sexual assaults of 3 young men.

Look, so the GM thought BoyzIIMen was a delivery service, it could be worse. He could've signed Demko for more than a 3 hour contract knowing he'd be broken immediately after.

Yes, there needs to be an upgrade in nets, without a doubt, but going into the playoffs with this roster is actually quite pathetic. There are several holes to fill on this roster for it to be remotely competitive.

RNH-McDavid-Hyman
NEED-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
Janmark-Henrique-Brown
NEED-NEED-NEED

Ekholm-NEED
Nurse-Bouchard
NEED-NEED

NEED
Skinner

Where/When does Kane fit back in? Can Perry keep up for one more year? Jeff Skinner will be traded but I doubt anything meaningful comes back.
I would absolutely hate trading RNH but he seems to be one of the only pieces to get a decent return (I think I'd still keep him though). Trading Bouchard is a no-brainer, he's the #1 most overrated player in the NHL but someone will overpay for him. I'd move him to the AHL before paying him about $3m. Try to yank Dobson from NYI along with another good player and offer Bouchard ++

Not going to touch on the Bouchard stuff with you anymore because it's clear that is a non starter for discussion.

In terms of NEED spots for the deadline, you are looking at something far more like this:

RNH-McDavid-Hyman
NEED-Draisaitl-Savoie
Arvidsson-Henrique-Brown
Podkolzin-NEED-Perry

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-NEED
Kulak-Emberson

Skinner
NEED

I would play the hell out of Savoie and keep him with Draisaitl. The top 6 NEED spot could be Kane but we have no clue when he returns and it's unrealistic to expect him to be a top 6 player after basically a year off. The top 4 RD spot could be Kulak in a pinch and then switch to finding another vet LD to play with Emberson. Right now I would argue a goalie that can post a 0.910SV% is far more essential than another defenseman.

Ryan Poehlig and Risto. Flyers can retain 50% on Risto.

You got second rders?? Rangers will sell ya Smith and Lindgren for one second rder and a decent prospect…filling two of your needs. Retention available too!

Thanks Sean, I sure hope Savoie can fill that spot! The rest of what you've put together sounds "decent". Hopefully they can put a few things together at the deadline.

I'm happy to agree to disagree on Bouchard and of course I am hoping to be wrong.

cheers

As terrible as Evan Bouchard is, and even though everyone other than a small % of Oilers fans are now realizing how bad he is, his value will not likely be higher than right now. This player needs to be part of a trade package right now. His perceived value is about to fall off of a cliff!

There are about 29 teams that would take him off your hands I think.

You think he is bad. You should watch Morgan Rielly.

I don't love high danger sv. pct as a yardstick for goalies.

The problem is when your goalie gives up a stinker or two every game. Nothing kills a team more than that and in the playoffs it could cost you the series.

Oilers have not been the same since the break. Now Skinner looks off and McDavid as well.

They always crap the bed after a few days off, never-mind a few weeks. It is a team D problem every bit as much as it is a 'tender problem, exactly like the start of the season. They will reset in a game or two, and then roll into the playoffs on a high'ish note again. Oil going to Oil.

Skinner whiffed on a couple of those goals but I agree it’s only a matter of time til he gets in a roll.
