Do you or anyone think they would attach a 1st to move Jarry.

No, I wouldn't at this point in time. At least not yet. With expiring contracts and the cap going up, coupled with a team that shouldn't be competing for anything in the next year or 2, I don't see why they'd spend a first just to get rid of the contract. Unless they make major moves in the offseason to truly have one last go of things next year which I find hard to see happening.

Absolutely not, That'd be terrible asset management. Pens are in a rebuild, moving a 1st would be a terrible move.

No. I think they'll dump Ned and run Jarry back as our starter next year. Or, they'll trade and retain salary. No reason to give up a premium asset when they don't intend to win. Jarry has the talent to be an NHL starter. His problem has always been consistency and the occasional brain fart. In his defense, playing behind this team would crush any tenders confidence.

No. Best you'd see is a third and retention. They're in the area where they take on other team's salary problems for draft picks, not the other way around.

I think we’ll keep rolling with Jarry and let the two guys in WBS fight for the backup job and then have whoever’s better try to unseat Jarry. Nothing really else to do.

Agreed.

I think there's a solid argument for trading him and a 2nd, 3rd or combo, especially given we have 3 2nd's next draft.

But even then I don't see a scenario where we don't pick up SOME of his salary. Even $1 million, which then makes parting with picks harder.

The cost to offer sheet rfa’s needs to be adjusted since salaries are going through the roof. Going after someone like villardi, Rossi, peterka just might not be worth it.

Not a chance, i wouldnt even do it for a 2nd. The most logical path, without knowing the buyout schedule timing, would be to buy him out. The cap is going up, we are unlikely to spend to the cap, no reason for us to spend assets to get rid of him.
