They had the entire year to evaluate the goalies, what more do they need to see? |

I feel like the benching may have been a bit unfair/excessive, but as you said, there is other stuff that happens behind the scenes of which we are not aware. Judgement withheld.
As for the Kolosov recall, this is puzzling to me as well. No other non-emergency recalls available now. I think they pretty much know what they have in the goalies - a decent platoon/good backup goalie, a streaky huge goalie who blocks pucks with his size as opposed to making saves with his reactions, and a young primadonna who has an incredible inflated self-image but has not earned the respect he's demanding. No need to evaluate them any further.
The rest of the season would have been better served to check out how some of the other young guys can fare in the NHL. But alas it's not to be... |

Benching a player for 2.5 periods is ridiculous in my opinion. Your really punishing the other D men and the team. Putting him on the third pair sends the same message without killing the rest of your D corp. |

Re Kolosov
You forgot the most obvious reason for his call up: they are utterly incompetent |

It's time for John Tortorella to take on another project, or retire from coaching all together. |

The losses are helping the draft position but the coach has to go. The act is tired and none of the young players are progressing anymore under his watch. |

I would have fired Tortarella last night after his comments. I am pretty sure he stated in the beginning of there year this will take time but last night stated "he wasn't ready to coach like this?"
I don't care who finish the year. Get working on a new coaching staff.
And sitting York was dumb. He made an error. Seems like only certain players have to sit (Couturier, York, Michkov) and yet errors from players like Laughton(when here) and Konecny never lead to these prolonged benching's.
He's a clown show now. |

Are you talking abut this? "This falls on me. I’m not really interested in learning how to coach in this type of season, where we’re at right now. But I have to do a better job. So this falls on me, getting the team prepared to play the proper way until we get to the end." |

Yeah.
He's the one who said this will take time. You knew what you were getting into this year so now your saying your not interested in learning how to coach in this type of season.
We ALL knew this type of season was coming. The GREAT CULTRE DEVELOPER.
To me this is flimsy and I have been done with his antics.

I think he was trying to take blame, but is too egotistical to fully do that. He had to throw in that it's not really his thing coaching a non-competitive team so that he could point the blame back at Danny and Jonsey for actively tanking the end of the season. |

The problem is if your communicate to people your true intentions you don't need the mental gymnastics to try to give reasons why a bad game happened.
Honest fans know where this team is and don't need the whole word games to justify the turnout of a score.

It's not unusual for a coach to take the blame for a bad game. Andy Reid did it all the time in Philly. It's just unusual for Torts to take the blame. He gave it a try, but his ego wouldn't let him totally commit to it and he had to point the blame somewhere else. |

Kolosov is not a finished product. Neither is Ersson. Both are young and will improve. Fedotov is 28 and will not.
I dont think Ersson has been healthy all year long. He was never the same after the 1st injury early in the year. I suspect he has been playing through something.
That being said Kolosov should get the majority of starts going forward IMO.

I dont think that is what he meant. It really boils down to the same issue thats been apparent for a bit. An issue with communication. I dont think he worded his sentence properly. Frankly I think hes just doing what he always does and it trying to get everyones attention off the players after another poor outing and onto him.
Laughton just did an interview and stated Torts is a players coach and said Berube is much like Torts as a coach.

They should have just left him in the AHL. He was playing better. Just let him develop there.
And I hope they run it back next year with these goalies. This team is not a goalie away. There is no reason to spend money or assets to upgrade the goalies. I would resign myself to another building year in 2026, maybe get another top pick in what is a better draft, then start to push forward after that.

Kolosov doesnt want to be there though. If the rumours about there being an agreement that hed get NHL time this season are to believed he would be expecting to get more NHL time. For the longest time he wasnt even playing down there. He only has 12 Games played

Frank Seravelli suggests that Torts press conference might signal him parting ways with the Flyers after this season. He believes that part of what Torts was trying to say is he might not have it in him to do this again, go through a season getting beat like VS Toronto trying to squeeze water out of stone (Get 150% out of the players to just barely barely even compete.) |

I hope this is the end. I would like to see what the young players can do under a new HC. Its kind of factually wrong that Torts has led other teams thru a rebuilding phase. In Columbus, Jarko was named GM February 2013. Torts was hired in October 2015. The organization was not looking to tear the team down. The year he was hired, the Jackets had 4 20 goal scorers on the roster. The following year, Bob won the Vezina. This idea that he was the HC who would build a roster of young players is false. An argument could be made, he got more out of players over the age of 25. He gets a lot of credit for the development of players below that age throughout his entire career, but I believe it is just a myth. |

Torts has suggested publicly, the Flyers were at a point where they can add players. I'm not sure the front office agrees. |
