I think we should be grateful we got the split - I mean, our payroll is only $83M more than the Orioles' payroll. - Atomic Wedgie
Just screwing around on the innerdweebs, looking at baseball salaries.
Juan Soto (NYM, $61,875,000) will make more this year than the entire Miami Marlins ($47M).
How the frank does MLB not have a salary floor? |

Is baseball just entirely about economies of scale, i.e. more games, larger venues? I (frank)ing hate baseball. |

Good sports day yesterday cuz the weather was crap, we didnt get hit hard here with ice.
Curling Mens Worlds > Jays > Leafs, All winners - senstroll
Had the same stuff overnight. Power stayed on . Hydro lines look good this AM.
Temps at + 1 c. now
Curling good too. Not a big Jacobs fan, but seems like the rest of the team has him reeled in a bit. keeping the speed down on his shot. so far.
Curling,,, Yanks ,, Leafs! |

It's what most were saying in early October, get into a solid playoffs position but it is ALL about how they do in the playoffs with this group. They are mature and have experience, growing pains should be behind them now. - Symba007
100% agreed here. Sure you have to make the postseason but playoff success is the only measuring stick that matters for this team.
I'm almost 50. I've seen enough years of crap - it's time for this team to actually do something that matters.

It's very much a have vs have not sport now. A handful of teams in on all the big name free agents and a bunch of smaller market teams acting as feeders and farm systems. The Jays are just stuck with being a Canadian market that no big name player in their prime wants to play for. Same as the Raptors. |

I may watch parts of one or two Jays games all season long. I have no interest in watching MLB anymore really. I still love playing the game, just not watching it.
Hockey is still #1 for me, I'm a fan of the NFL. |

Isn't that the case with all of the North American sports outside of hockey?
Actually add all sports in general. European soccer is (frank)ed like that. |

NFL isn't quite like that. All those teams have money but often the worst ones like the browns seemingly can't get out of their own way and mess themselves up.

Yet the NFL is basically a league where if you have one of the 5 or so QB's in the league that are good, you have success...otherwise you suck donkey ass regardless of the money you spend. Seems broken. |

99 times out of 100, I hate sports blowhard talk of "I could do better than these bums running team X" - no buddy, you couldn't. You would have absolutely no idea how to run a team. Just shut up and drink your beer.
But the Cleveland Browns are different. My dog would be a better GM than whomever they have had over the past 30 years.
My dog would not have made the Deshaun Watson trade.
Advantage: Wedgie's dog. |

Well that's my point. I don't know someone who would tell their QB in Mayfield "we dont want you" and then balk at the offer of Watson and TRY to circle back to Mayfield to stay (even though you told him to take a hike) and then HAD to make the Watson trade and contract. God Awful. Mayfield goes on to lead Tampa to a great year the next season
I think the browns made a trade for a back up QB a few years ago at the trade deadline but were so excited for the deal they forgot to submit the paperwork to the league and it didn't happen |
