Ullmark is the new Lalime! Lolololol
I can't see them winning this game. It's how the young guys react in game 2. That will decide the series. |

Ullmark cant play in the playoffs, OTT needs a G that can. he got lit up on a BOS team that broke records. OTT would have a better chance of winning with Forsberg in net. |

Shot total is a a little misleading, Sens did not look too structured for much of the game there.
Hope they can use that goal to push back and play better in period 2. |

good news, Leafs on pace for 15 total shot.
bad news, Leafs on pace for 6 goals with ullmark a 0.667 SV%

Obviously, the primary goal of the Sens next game is to make sure a leaf doesn’t fall down… because if that happens ….instantaneous penalty…

Whelp, this game has not gone well:
1. This has been the worst game all year for bonehead penalties. Every one of them was deserved.
2. Defensive zone face offs have been aweful.
3. Solars made big saves, ullmark did not.
4. Brady’s facial hair is gross.
It’s game one. Not how I’d like it to go, but the sky is not falling yet. Let’s get the split and come home ready to go.

I personally thought some of the calls were a little soft, still penalties but the type you'd see often in any game. Some were just boneheaded (Greig's, and Batherson's in front of the net). Regardless, special teams needed to be better, along with Ullmark.
While Toronto was the better team and fully deserved the win I felt the score wasn't as bad as the play indicated. Hoping they can come back in game two. Hopefully this was more nerves for a young team.
They'll need Ullmark to play much better. He's followed up bad games with stellar play before. |

well told ya all so, ullmark sporting his natural sub .900 playoff SV% at .750
sens cant defend worth poop when it maters, cant score. quick 4 game sweep for the leafs, essentially a bye for the leafs.
Brady must still be hurt, he was invisible.
OTT needs a back up that has success in the playoffs, ullmark will get you in the playoffs but he will get you out quick. |

Yeah, lots of teams go with the regular season goalie/ playoff goalie system. Makes sense.

You’re the clown that spent years in the Leafs thread pretending that Toronto was your second favourite team.
I guess now it’s the Sens. |

Ottawa wasn’t ready. I expect next game they’ll put up a fight
The complaining about the penalties is pathetic and misguided. Every one was deserved, and the cross check to JT’s neck could easily have been 5
Where was Brady?? Truly did not notice him |

ullmark career NHL playoffs numbers: 11 games 4.31 GAA 0.848 SV%
and 10 of those games was with a MUCH better BOS teams. |

Get a life dude. Toronto is just a better and more experienced hockey team. Ottawa, like Montreal, will just learn a lot from their probable first round exits, and that's it. Ullmark is the best goalie Ottawa has had in years. Hellebyuck or Shesterkin would not make a difference right now, Ottawa is just not there yet. |

Top 4 I want to see corrected
4. Brady Tkachuk
I am not calling out Brady, because he has enough on him, but he needs to play like Matthew Tkachuk does in FLA, not in CAL. He needs to know HE is the leader. Call people out, have discussions, and don't come into this series thinking you have to go out in round 1 because it's your first time in the playoffs. Matthew made the playoffs in his first year, Brady had to wait 7 years from the time he was drafted. It's time to give everything you have. Other than making the cup finals, beating the leafs would be the best accomplishment for Sens fans
3. Veteran Leadership
Giroux, Perron, Amadio, Cousins (6 cup finals, 2 rings). These guys need to support Brady and all the young guns entering the playoffs (Stutzle, Batherson, Sanderson, Cozens, Pinto) and others. They need to be strong voices of calm and strategy because there's likely a lot of emotions in the room.
2. Disciplined Hockey!
Speaking of strategy, staying disciplined is NOT an option. Unless they want to get swept, if they take penalties (and yes Leafs sold them in game 1) they will stand no chance. The Sens will have a chance in this series if they play VERY tight hockey and score the first goal (even if it takes half the game) so they don't have to chase the game or make the game open up, which benefits TOR
1. Linus Ullmark (down the middle)
Sens did a horrible job in giving leafs chances right down the middle of the ice - which lead to both goals. Marner's breakaway goal (2nd goal) was a killer as the puck went right between Chabot and Jensen. But even when that happens, the biggest concern is that the reputation of Ullmark is on the line right now. So far in his career, he has demonstrated that his numbers are different in the regular season vs the playoffs. I don't know if it's a mental thing but with him resigning a huge contract, the Lalime trauma of the 2000s, and everything else - Ullmark is the biggest story to watch and this might be the biggest game of his career with the Sens tomorrow night thus far. |
