Pissing off top of the lineup players over a $$$ when you leave your club in scoring for the past two years, playing with multiple line mates, and having Eakins as a coach… Z is a magical talent - you should get whatever you want being able to score points with that idiot Eakins as coach … Vertank is so so dumb..
And let’s stop with the Stevie y love, he’s a moron, that guy has got Detroit on the 50 year rebuild-

There's no shot Kent doesn't go out and get Zeegs, right??
Best buddies with Caufield, was in Montreal this summer for the Grand Prix and Habs desperately need an elite offensive forward. Match made in heaven and can get it done with the abundance of picks and prospects, LFG Clark Kent!

He could just trade Caufield to the Ducks if they wan to play together
I don't get this at all. I would totally get it if this was about term, but it's about money, something the Ducks have an abundance of. Once the three years were agreed on, it should have been a no-brainer to compromise on the money. I have a feeling GMPV is planting the seeds that he's a tough negotiator. Great, he's going to negotiate the best offensive player Anaheim has had in a long time right out of town.
As for Drysdale, that Sanderson contract had to screw everything up there. You KNOW that Drysdale's agent had dollar signs in his eyes the second that contract became public. That might take a little time, however, this is a terrible judgment call by Jamie and his agent. Mintyukov, Zellweger Luneau, LaCombe, and Warren have looked really good so far in the rookie tournament. If I were his agent, I'd negotiate the best compromise deal I could get and get my butt into camp.

There have been reports of what the Anaheim Ducks are offering Trevor Zegras on his next contract and a clear reason why he hasn't signed yet. According to Renaud Lavoie, the Ducks are only offering Zegras in the $3-4 million AAV range, likely on a bridge deal.
With the talent level of Zegras and his role on the team right now, it is obvious why the sides are so far apart. It's a dangerous game the Ducks seem to be playing with their top talent as they have over $16 million in cap space to work with this season and can easily offer a bit more to their star.
Per Big Head Hockey, there are only six forwards in the NHL over the past five years with as many or more points than Zegras at his current age, which includes Andrei Svechnikov, Jack Hughes, Tim Stutzle, Brady Tkachuk, Auston Matthews, and Elias Pettersson. On each of their first contracts out of their entry-level deals, nobody signed for less than 9.05% of the cap, equaling at least $7.5 million AAV.
Does not seem that Verbeek is going to offer more than $5 million AAV. Not a time to be so tight!

Pays Terry 7x7 for back to back 60+ point season but playing hard ball with Zegras back to back 60+ point seasons. And 4 years younger.
Don’t get me started on Drysdale. Is he trying to get him on an Addison type of deal? Not sure what Verbeek is trying to prove. All you can see if mctavish and Carlsson seeing this and saying I’m next on this ship are of fools.

Zegras is a immature beta boi. Mental issues red flags everywhere

I think it’s about holding costs down during the earlier part of the contract while you have leverage. What the Leafs did by overpaying Marner and Mathew’s early on was create a new system that rewards talent long before it produces consistently . So Toronto fans will say M&M have been very productive and they have with nothing to show for it. Now you have to keep overpaying! I say control early and pay up when you have to. Z’s going to make his money although in Anaheim it’s going to be wing money not center money…..
Looking for some *active* managers to join my primarily hockeybuzz-based yahoo league. 20 teams and large rosters, so the draft is a 2.5 hour experience. No keepers, no money.
Stats include fw, hits/blocks, among the usual.
Is it possible that Zegras isn't the type of player you build around? Maturity or who knows what else. Maybe he accepts losing to easily. I've listened to Verbeek in interviews and he seems a very competent hockey man. I remember watching Verbeek play. I don't expect him to back far off his position.

Zegras situation should be pretty easy, but I would have to assume Trevor and/or his agent see it differently. He's a star with potential no doubt, but is he really a superstar yet?
Should be a slam dunk long term deal 8 year between 7-8m per.
Seems like Zegras wants the same amount, but over 2-3 years...yeah that's not going to happen and Verbeek should stick with it. If you want a short term deal then you have to leave money on the table, unless the player is putting up crazy numbers...65 points is far from crazy numbers to demand high dollar short term.
This team is 3-5 years away from finishing this rebuild. That's being generous. Play hardball with all of them. They had to over pay veterans to come here because they know they're getting murdered for the next 2 seasons at least.
